It’s been an annual release from Fort George Brewery since the winter of 2017. Matryoshka starts with a very decadent Russian Imperial Stout aged in spirit barrels, with smaller and smaller variations emerging from the mother batch and conditioned on complementary ingredients to create the series. The base beer typically arrives in December. The variations will all be available during Stout Month (AKA February). This vintage was aged in barrels from Westward Whiskey (Portland, OR) and IJW Whiskey Company (Boyle County, Kentucky).

Down & Dirty: 2-Row Pale, Pilsner malt, and Flaked Corn with Mosiac Cryo, El Dorado Cryo, Mosaic Incognito, Calypso Salvo, Mosaic, and Mosaic Hyperboost hops. ABV: 6.7% IBU: 67 Color: Clear dark yellow Aroma: Citrus upfront with orange and grapefruit dominating. Followed by strong tropical mango and guava. Also, stone fruit, black currant, cantaloupe, fresh cut grass, sweet aromatics & slightly dank. Flavor: Subtly sweet, mildly bitter, lightly mineral, light lingering sweetness with a mild lingering bitterness.
